  • 2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
  • 2 cans (10 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 can (12 fl oz) citrus soda (such as Mountain Dew)

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cut each apple into 8 equal wedges and set aside.
  3. Separate crescent roll dough into triangles. Roll each apple wedge in the dough starting at the smallest end, pinching to seal. Arrange the wrapped apples in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Stir in the sugar and cinnamon until well combined.
  5. Pour the butter mixture over the apple dumplings, followed by the citrus soda.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 45 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and bubbly.
